Takumã Kamayurá - Xingu

This is a work I started in 2013 and returned to it in about 2015. It still has a lot of things to improve in the face, hair work.. btw, I don't know if I gonna return again to it soon, so I decided to publish as it is at the moment.

The idea came through a Sebastião Salgado's photo, who is one of the biggest brazilian photographers. I actually was a little bit saturated from those super strong heroes and warriors on the community, so I decided to make something that represents better our culture, our roots. The theme of the indigenous came as perfect for this.

In the middle of the photo is one of the most importants pagé (religious leader in the tribe) called Takumã Kamayurá, of the Xingu tribe. I perceived a really strong and powerful leader in his appearance so it truly inspired me to this project. He died in 2014, so it was kind of a tribute as well.
